How dog boarding in our Bowie home came to be:
My husband and I have been providing professional pet sitting services in our customer's homes for over 20 years.  After so many wonderful experiences over the years with pets, we knew it would bring us much joy to offer boarding for small dogs in our own home providing the very best care.  Working from home allows us to provide your pup with plenty of attention and affection around the clock!  We are conveniently located on two acres in a beautiful neighborhood called Sherwood Manor near Route 50 just minutes from Hyattsville, College Park, Crofton, Annapolis, Odenton, Davidsonville, Upper Marlboro and more.  

Our Silver Spring location now in operation:
We’re excited to announce that our long-time dog walker and pet sitter, Stephanie, who has been with us for since the beginning for nearly 20 years, is now expanding our small dog boarding services by opening her own home. Conveniently located for customers in Laurel, Aspen Hill, Wheaton, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Takoma Park, and parts of Washington DC.  Stephanie offers a peaceful, home-like setting where your dog will stay with just a few others in her and her husband’s care.  She is a testament to what it means to be a true "animal lover" and we are so happy to bring her level of care to your little ones!

What sets us apart from other boarding or kennel facilities:
At Bowie Small Dog Boarding, we only welcome a limited number of small dogs at a time to ensure a peaceful, stress-free environment.  Unlike traditional kennels, your dog won’t be surrounded by dogs of varying sizes and temperaments, or confined to small spaces.  Instead, your dog will stay in our spacious home with my husband, me, and our sweet, 10-year-old Japanese Chin, Ponyo (pictured below).  We’ll arrange a playdate to make sure your dog and Ponyo get along, and to give you the chance to tour our home and property.  With over 20 years of pet care experience, Bowie Small Dog Boarding offers a calm, home-like setting with exceptional care that goes far beyond the typical kennel. Your dog will become part of our family, treated with the same love and attention until your return.    

Requirements:
Under 25lbs
Over 2 years old
Housebroken
Calm friendly temperament with people and dogs
Walk well on a leash without excessive pulling
Does not have separation anxiety and is gentle with property
Up-to-date vaccinations
Flea/tick preventative
No known contagions

Please bring food, bowls, treats, leash, harness/collar, waste bags, medications and crate (if crating is part of their routine).  We typically request no toys or bones because some dogs can be possessive.  Treats are always welcome of course!

Drop-off and pick-up is between 12pm - 5pm (some flexibility may be possible).

Basic Bathing & Grooming:
We ask that all dogs be bathed before dropping them off to us or we can bathe them for an extra fee (as long as your dog is receptive).
